Mayco series 2000 matte glaze bisque 4 oz. s2237 taupe $3.75

What is Series 2000? Mayco's Series 2000 is a Non-Toxic, dinnerware safe glaze. Series 2000 has a full color palette, in both a durable high gloss and a soft satin finish. This line expands the choice of the consumers' selection of decorator colors, while coordinating with many of the colors in Mayco's fine line of glazes, Underglazes and One Strokes Why use the Series 2000 Glazes? Their Non-Toxic formula is ideal for school, nursing home and institutional use. How do I apply Series 2000 Glazes? For solid even coverage, time and care should be given to their application. The first coat is the most important. Use an Oval Mop to apply the Series 2000 to a large plain area. This allows a full brush load of color to be delivered to the surface. A Flat Glaze brush is suited for applying color to pieces with lots of detail. Using this brush on highly detailed pieces will help avoid any build up of color in the crevices. For the best coverage, apply each successive coat in an alternate direction. Always read the label instructions, as all glazes are not applied in the same way. Do I fire Mayco's Series 2000 glazes differently than other glazes? No. Properly fire to shelf cone 06. Series 2000 glazes can be high fired. Check Mayco’s High Fire Guide for results. It is very important that bisque be fired two cones hotter than the glaze firing. A shelf cone should always be used to verify that the desired cone was reached through each firing. Fast firing during the bisque and glaze firing does not allow the glaze to properly develop. This will produce trapped gases and carbons in the glaze. The preferred rate of increase during the bisque firing is 250º per hour and 375º per hour during the glaze firing. Make sure the glaze has dried thoroughly prior to firing. Always give the pieces the proper space in the kiln chamber and provide proper ventilation during the firing cycle. Can Series 2000 glazes be intermixed to make different shades of color? New shades can be achieved within certain parameters. A lighter, more transparent color is created when mixed with S-2101 Natural Clear. This glaze mix remains food safe and Non-Toxic. Use of any glazes other than the Series 2000 for intermixing would result in loss of the Non-Toxic benefits. When mixing the Series 2000 Gloss series, try a small test first. Some pigments are not stable when mixed together and may give unsatisfactory results. All satin finish glazes are intermixable. My fire came out to a true shelf cone 06 but the surface is pitted and has small bubbles. Why? Be sure to fire your bisque to shelf cone 04. A slow ramping of the greenware fire will help rid the ware of gases and carbons that may re-appear during the glaze fire. If glazes (especially the gloss line) are applied too heavily, the fired results may be pitted or have tiny bubbles trapped in the glaze finish. Sometimes by re-firing to the same temperature or one cone cooler, the imperfections will disappear. Are Series 2000 glazes luster compatible? Most colors are luster compatible. Test first. Can these colors be used for glaze layering or majolica? Yes. Because the Series 2000 glazes are non-moving products, they work very well creating beautiful glaze layering or majolica finishes. Can Series 2000 glazes be used with other products? Yes. Series 2000 glazes work great with Pottery Coat, Pottery Coat Stucco, Stroke & Coat and other non-toxic glazes.
